The short answer

What is healthcare SEO?

What does SEO for a clinic include?

Healthcare SEO gets a clinic found when people search for care, like "physiotherapist near me" or "laser hair removal cost Toronto". It covers a Google Business Profile for each location, a page for each service written or reviewed by a clinician, a technically sound website, and mentions from trusted sources. In Ontario, it must also follow the advertising rules of each practitioner's regulatory college.

In health care, cutting corners is costly. Patients compare clinics carefully before they book. Google holds health pages to a higher standard of trust than most.

Earn that trust, and organic rankings win those same patients without a per-click cost.

Three things make clinic SEO different:

  • Google holds health content to a higher standard. Medical topics are "Your Money or Your Life" content. Google says its systems give more weight to content with strong experience, expertise, authority and trust. Anonymous, generic pages struggle. Named clinicians with checkable credentials do better.
  • Patients choose locally. Most clinic searches are local and mobile. Google ranks the map on relevance, distance and prominence. Each location needs its own accurate profile, and eligible practitioners can have their own.
  • Every profession has its own advertising rules. Physicians answer to the CPSO, nurses to the CNO and dentists to the RCDSO. Physiotherapists, chiropractors and others answer to their own colleges. A clinic with several professions has to satisfy all of them.
What we do

SEO for doctors and clinics. One program.

Run every month, built for regulated care.

Service pages reviewed by clinicians

One plain-language page per service: what it is, who it suits, what to expect, risks and recovery. Cost too, where you choose to publish it. Each page names the clinician who wrote or reviewed it, with a real review date.

Practitioner bios patients can check

Name, profession and registration number with their college, so patients can check the public register. Plus the services each person provides, and where. That's the verifiable trust signal Google looks for on health pages.

Google Business Profiles

A complete profile for each location, with the right primary category and services. Practitioner profiles too, where Google's rules allow them. Many new-patient calls start in the map, before anyone opens your website.

Technical SEO and speed

Heavy booking widgets and templates slow many clinic sites on phones. We fix speed, crawlability, redirects and structured data. Clinic schema goes in without self-serving review stars, which Google doesn't allow.

AI search (GEO/AEO)

Patients now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode which clinic to book. We make your pages specific and easy to quote, and keep your facts consistent everywhere. Then we earn mentions on the sources these tools cite.

Privacy-safe tracking

Calls, bookings and forms, tracked by page and channel, so you see which services bring in patients. No health information is sent to analytics: never what the patient wrote or which condition they have.

Built for regulated advertising

Clinic marketing, within your college's rules.

Can clinic marketing break college advertising rules?

Yes. The CPSO, for example, defines advertising as any communication, paid or unpaid, made by or on behalf of a physician to promote them, their services or their clinic. That includes your website, Google profile, social posts and anything an agency writes, and each practitioner is responsible for advertising about them.

So we check copy against the relevant college's rules. Nothing goes live without your approval.

The rules that most often clash with typical marketing, and what we do instead:

No testimonials

The CPSO's policy rules out testimonials in physician advertising. The CNO says it's never appropriate for nurses to solicit testimonials from clients. So no testimonial pages, review widgets or star ratings on your site. Independent reviews on Google are different: we help you reply professionally, without confirming that the reviewer is a patient.

No comparisons or "better than" claims

Physicians must not compare themselves to other practitioners or suggest a better or more effective service. Nurses must avoid comparative statements and guarantees. So we write accurate, specific copy instead of superiority claims.

No drug or device brand names in physician ads

The CPSO's policy bars references to a specific drug, appliance or equipment in physician advertising. Health Canada restricts advertising prescription drugs to the public. So we describe treatments generically. Any brand-name keyword decision is made with your compliance lead, not by us alone.

Before-and-after photos only under strict conditions

For physicians: real patients of the advertised physician, typical results, no manipulation, consistent lighting and pose, consent obtained after treatment, and a "results vary" statement. And only where people seek them out, such as your own website. Nurses need consent and must use their own unretouched work. We set galleries up to those standards, or leave them out.

Multi-disciplinary clinics

A physician must not appear to endorse or provide services they don't provide. So every service page says who provides the service. A physician's name is never attached to treatments someone else delivers.

Sources: CPSO Advertising policy, CNO Advertising FAQ, and for dental practices the RCDSO guidance. Physiotherapists, chiropractors and other professions have their own colleges' standards, which we check for your team. This is how we work, not legal advice.

Results

Results for a Toronto clinic.

A Toronto medical aesthetics clinic, run by our team with this rules-first approach. In Google Search Console, July to September 2025 vs 2026, clicks grew from 1,681 to 14,932 (8.9×). Average position improved from 41.3 to 11.8.

The work included removing review stars from the site's schema, which Google's rules don't allow. Past results don't predict future results. Read the full clinic case study, with its monthly chart.

How it works

Five steps, from baseline to report.

Audit and baseline

We record where you stand: rankings and map visibility for each location, Search Console clicks, AI mentions, calls and bookings. Every later result is measured against this dated baseline.

Fact sheet and compliance check

One sheet of verified clinic facts: locations, hours, practitioners, their professions and registration numbers, and who provides which service. We check existing copy, photos and reviews against each relevant college's rules.

Fix the foundation

Google Business Profiles, technical fixes, speed, structured data, and privacy-safe call and booking tracking.

Build service depth

New and rewritten service pages, each reviewed and approved by the clinician responsible. Then earned local mentions and links to back them up.

Measure and report

A monthly plain-English report on calls, bookings and visibility by location and service. Each change is checked again at 14 and 28 days.

Pricing

How much does healthcare SEO cost?

What should a clinic budget for SEO?

Our SEO retainers generally run from about $1,500 to $6,000+ per month. Where you land depends on how many locations and services you want to rank for, and how competitive they are. It's a flat monthly fee, and we quote after your free audit, once we know what it will take.

We don't lock clinics into long contracts or guarantee rankings. Running a medical aesthetics clinic? See med spa marketing. A dental practice? See dental SEO.

Free SEO audit

See where you stand.

A free, written audit in five business days: where you rank, who takes your searches, whether AI assistants mention you, and what to fix first. Then, if you like what you see, a short call.

Measured with the Redline Baseline Method: Search Console, July to September 2026 against the same months in 2025. Past results don't predict future results; yours depend on your market, competition and starting point. See the case studies.

Answers

Healthcare SEO questions, answered.

How long does SEO take for a clinic?

Google Business Profile and technical fixes can show up within weeks. New service pages usually need three to six months to reach their potential, longer in competitive services downtown. We check every change at 14 and 28 days, so you see early signals instead of waiting blind.

Why does Google care who wrote our health content?

Health topics can affect people's wellbeing. So Google says its systems give more weight to content showing strong experience, expertise, authority and trust. Named clinicians, credentials you can check on a public register, clear sources and honest limits all help. Anonymous, generic content doesn't.

Can we show reviews or testimonials on our website?

For physicians, the CPSO's policy rules out testimonials in advertising. The CNO says nurses should never solicit them. So we don't put testimonials or review widgets on your site. Independent reviews on Google aren't your advertising. Replying to them professionally is fine, without confirming that the reviewer is a patient.

Can practitioners have their own Google profiles?

Google allows public-facing practitioners who are directly contactable at a location to have their own profile, alongside the clinic's. Support staff don't qualify. We set these up where they help patients find the right person.

Is it safe to track bookings in Google Analytics?

Yes, if it's set up carefully. We track that a call, booking or form happened, and which page and channel it came from. Never what the patient wrote or which condition they have. No health information is sent to analytics.

Do you work with physiotherapists, chiropractors and other clinics?

Yes. The SEO approach is the same; the advertising rules differ by college. We check your team's professions and apply the rules that cover each of them.
